Sadie Nakamarra Padoon

Sadie Padoon was born in 1956 and her country is Nyirripi in the Northern Territory.  She is the daughter of Kathleen Padoon, a well know painter and pioneer of the Warlayirti Arts at Balgo, WA. Sadie paints womens stories (that are largely secret) associated with her Grandmothers country, Ngantalara and Nakarra Nakarra. Women would walk around this country and burned the land to be able to walk through clearly and to get the grasses and plants to grow back stronger for all the animals and people that depended on them. The red in the painting depicts the fire, the white the ashes and black the burnt out areas that will regenerate.
